Agency to help people recovering from addiction find jobs

RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) A Vermont staffing agency has opened a new office in Rutland that is helping people who are recovering from substance abuse find jobs.

Stuart “Mickey” Wiles, the found of the organization Working Fields, says the agency “focuses on second-chance hires, predominantly people recovering from substance abuse addiction.”

Wiles tells the Rutland Herald the agency works with organizations that are willing to employ what Working Fields calls its “associates.” Potential employers know the associates are in recovery and might have a criminal history.

Wiles says the employers also know the associates are being supported by Working Fields.

Wiles started Working Fields two years ago in Burlington and it has had some success in Chittenden, Franklin and Washington counties.

So fire the organization has helped place two people in the Rutland area.
